The Return Review

3.3 Stars on Goodreads, 4 stars from me

The Return by Rachel Harrison was a book I wanted to like more than I did. It was a solid read where you were interested throughout the book, but the ending of what happened, wasn’t very significant as I wanted it to be. The first half of the book was not as interesting as I would have liked it to be either but the last quarter of the book was when the thriller aspect was applied. It was easy to visualize the scenes though which I liked because it meant there was good word choice and imagery used. The last page was a decent ending in my opinion because it makes you think about what lurks behind you.

Book Synopsis:

“An edgy and haunting debut novel about a group of friends who reunite after one of them has returned from a mysterious two-year disappearance.

Julie is missing, and the missing don’t often return. But Elise knows Julie better than anyone, and she feels in her bones that her best friend is out there, and that one day she’ll come back. She’s right. Two years to the day that Julie went missing, she reappears with no memory of where she’s been or what happened to her.”
